Description: Provide optimal, achievable quality of nursing care by promoting and utilizing the nursing process to meet the needs of the client and their illness. The emphasis of nursing care will be on health maintenance, promotion of disease prevention, management of the acute or chronic illness and providing education in regard to self-care. Assists in directing adequate qualified staff members to facilitate the medical plan of care, which meets the standards for nursing practice; Provides for continuity of care for the client through communication with all disciplines; Identifies and participates in performance improvement activities. Nursing functions of the Registered Nurse are carried out according to system standards of care, the hospital mission statement, and the Department of Nursing.
